Scotch Broth
Ingredients
2½ gallons prepared Lamb Base
3 lbs. cooked lamb, small dice
8 oz. barley
2 bay leaves
½ tsp. thyme
¾ tsp. Garlic in Oil
2 Tbsp. chopped parsley
2 lbs. onion, small dice
1 lb. carrot, small dice
½ stalk celery, small dice
3 small yellow turnips, small dice
2 leeks, small dice
1 lb. mushrooms, sliced
salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
(yields 3+ gallons)Bring the No Added MSG Lamb Base to a simmer. Add the lamb and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the barley, herbs and garlic and cook for 30-40 minutes, or until the barley is nearly tender. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer until vegetables and barley are tender. Adjust the seasoning if necessary.
